What Made it on the November 2008 Ballot Bond Proposal?

What made it on the November 2008 ballot bond proposal?
After a two-year analysis of our school facilities, an extensive list of key repairs, renovations and upgrades was presented to our community in spring 2008.  The list represented the status of our school facilities at that time.  Based on this information, our School Board decided to place a construction bond measure on the November 2008 ballot.

  • The School Board proposed a $242.1 million construction bond.
  • Salem-Keizer voters approved the bond in November 2008.
  • This construction bond includes:
    • Repairs, renovations, safety upgrades in schools across Salem and Keizer.
    • Short-term overcrowding relief (portable classrooms) and reimbursables.
    • A new middle school in west Salem.
    • Three new elementary schools in NE Salem, south Salem and west Salem.
